The core production area of Guizhou Cordyceps is distributed in the mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest belt at an altitude of 1800 to 2500 meters in Bijie, Liupanshui, and other places in northwestern Guizhou. It grows on cold, shady slopes with a canopy density of over 0.8, where the soil is a mixed substrate of pine needle humus and basalt weathered soil, with an organic matter content exceeding 15% and a stable pH value in the slightly acidic range of 5.5 to 6.5. The annual effective accumulated temperature is only 2200 to 2500℃, with cloudy and misty weather accounting for 60% of the time, and a diurnal temperature variation of 10 to 15℃. These conditions, combined with unique humidity regulation, promote the stable development of the mycelium-insect parasitic system, requiring a complete parasitic cycle of 3 to 4 years before harvest.
Guizhou Cordyceps is primarily Cordyceps cicadae, characterized by plump insect bodies and robust stroma with annular protrusions, with a spore release rate of 150,000 per gram. Its pharmacological characteristics include a cordycepic acid (D-mannitol) concentration of 0.4% to 0.6%, a stable cordycepin content of over 0.08%, and a selenium enrichment level of 0.15mg/kg (five times that of ordinary Cordyceps), along with unique cicada flower peptide active substances. Pharmacodynamic studies have confirmed its glomerular basement membrane repair rate of 74%, making it suitable for pathological intervention in chronic kidney disease protein metabolism disorders and pneumoconiosis fibrosis. It has been included by WHO as a key alternative medicinal fungus in the "East Asian Herbal Resource Repository."
